GREETERS: .....Helen Lenz, Marilyn Rohrer, and Sandra Bryant
Welcome: .....Vice-President Fran Lightner ---10:AM
Opening Prayer .....Russ Bateman
Welcome was extended to all members and to all our visitors.

Teaching Moment given by Fran about using a CD for journaling. Write about what is going on in your life, your feelings and emotions, not just the weather etc, especially any insights or spiritual moments that you have experienced. Write down about our family and then it is part of their history also. She also asked for help about using a Blog.

Then she introduced our presenters. Bob is a retired teacher/Administrator from the Toole School District. He taught and was the principal at Hurricane Middle School in the early 70’s and owned a grocery store in Springdale. While employed in the District office in Tooele Bob was a teacher trainer and traveled Utah and Idaho presenting skills in teaching. Bob and his wife Carol served a Mission at the ST George Family History Center, with a special interest in personal histories. Bob has served with our group for several years and is presently our President.

Joel his brother was born in SLC and raised in Tooele, Joel went to Southern California on an LDS mission and attended BYU following his mission. While going to BYU Joel spent the summer in Springdale working for his brother Robert. This is where Joel met and fell in love with his wife Marium. They are the parents of 5 wonderful boys. Joel and Marium currently reside in ST. George, Utah. Joel is active in the local toastmasters club, a public speaking forum, where he has achieved their highest achievement, that of a Distinguished Toastmaster.

Presenters: The Kroff Brothers “LIFE CHANGING MOMENTS”

Bob & Joel begin their Presentation with a recap of how they became aware of ‘ the box ‘ and how with Uncle Verl’s passing that some had gone into the home and had already taken some of the things that they thought were of more value than’ the box’ of notebooks , scrapbooks, newspaper & magazine articles and stuff. But when these two opened the box and took a peek, they knew they had the real treasure. They discovered through Uncle Verl’s journals of such that he was a man of intelligence rather than, as children, the ‘unintelligent hermit’ they had thought him to be.

So the point they wanted to bring out to us was…….You do not have to wait for your whole history to be completed to start to share your memories. They have done this by telling their story over and over the last couple of years. And now they have added to it the digital format with slides of all the things of interest to the story, also with even words and music and they published a small book of Uncle Verl. They have done a great job and have included some of their children in writing a special song for Verl.

Again they wanted to demonstrate to us you can put onto CD and then self-publish your work for a very fraction of the cost as to have someone do it for you. And it works great!! And they told us of some of the places to go and things needed to accomplish this. We all had a great time in remembrance of days past and learning how to move forward with what we have, Now! The point is Do Something!!
